OrchestRAVE
The Barbican commissioned Guildhall Production Studio in 2024 to present OrchestRAVE, a celebration of the 15th anniversary of UKF, the home of UK bass music. The event was a special orchestral rendition of bass music, performed by over 40 artists and alumni from Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Following the success of 2023’s award-winning OrchestRAM, drum and bass music returned to the Barbican for an epic orchestral journey into the world of bass music and rave culture, elevated by mesmerising stage production.
Guildhall Production Studio worked as the conduit bringing together talent from across Guildhall’s departments to create something truly special. The Guildhall Session Orchestra was joined by DnB DJ Raiser, percussion and rhythm section, and special guests, to perform many of the most-loved tracks from the bass music scene. As well as Guildhall Session Orchestra, OrchestRAVE featured arrangements by Guildhall’s Electronic & Produced Music students, support from Guildhall’s Production Arts students, and lighting design by the double LIT award-winning Jon M Armstrong.
